I subscribe to a magazine called Positive Words and they have a monthly Mini Competition with a set theme. This month was ‘harvest’. For the life of me I had no inspiration coming to me for this theme!! Usually it does-something will pop into my head and I’ll write that, this time, nothing!!!

So I decided I’d look in the dictionary for a definition of the word, and hopefully go from there.

Well, I was blown away at the dictionary definition of ‘harvest’, and this is the inspiration that came from it; it needs more work, I know -what writing doesn’t, as it evolves with us!

The Harvester

harvest– def: gathering, the process of; the season when it takes place: the product or result.

Inspiration ripens,

seasoning the pages

with fruits

from the authors mind.

Words perfectly aligned;

pictures of emotions

and thoughts

for the reader to harvest.

I want to break the definition ‘sections’ into Part I then Part II etc to extend it, further exploring the theme in its relation to The Writer, but it was a 100 word poem competition so had to be super concise.

Are you inspired by the theme? What did you come up with, what smacked you in the face?!!!  :))

Thanks for reading- if you haven’t subscribed, please do, and if you have, I thank you!!

    Love the idea of inspiration ripening the words & the writer harvesting them. Very clever & inspired. 🙂 EllaDee

      Thanks EllaDee- where does your inspiration come from, any where specific? Or random like mine?

    The best I can come up with is on a good day I picture my muses as crazy cooks flinging bits & pieces of inspiration with abandon for me to catch if I can, record & wait… then at other muse amusing times when I am/was sleeping, out walking, or in the shower they fling a few more ingredients around & the alchemy process takes place when I should be on my way somewhere or doing something else. Otherwise, it’s just me recording anything & everything thinking/hoping I might use it one day.
